God has the power and ability to do whatever he wants by himself, but all the time, he has been calling people to serve in different capacities. God has called some of us to serve as laity, others as clergy. When we respond positively to God’s call, all become ministers of the Gospel of Christ, and our main responsibility is to share the Good News of Jesus with other people.
My name is Pablo Marty. I am the new pastor at Evangelical United Methodist. After serving other churches in New York City, St. Louis, MO, and in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, I was appointed as the pastor to this great and loving church, but also to serve the people who form this community. It is a great honor for me.
Since my youth, I felt a strong calling from God to serve in his Kingdom, but I did not accept the call. One day in 1989, I could not resist anymore and I said to God; “Yes Lord, I accept your call.” Since that time, I started taking theological trainings to serve God the right way. I studied at the New York Theological Seminary, at Eden Theological Seminary, and other theological institutions, but a theological training does not make a person fit to serve. The most important thing a person needs to be a good servant of God is to receive and accept the calling from our almighty Lord.
If you are looking for a church where you can feel loved and where you can grow spiritually, we invite you and your family to join us. Our worship services are traditional, but we have room for young people too. We have programs for youth and a strong outreach ministry. Come; you will be welcome at Evangelical UMC!
